Shorty Garrett tied for sixth in Pool 2, Round 1 with 79 points but responded in a big way. He was 88.5 points on his second horse to not only win the Second Round, but also finish atop Pool 2 with 167.5 points on two.
“It feels great, a horse that is kicking hard like that and not covering too much ground and letting you do your job and really style on out, it feels great,” he said after covering Kristen Vold’s Painted Bear.
Through Saturday, Garrett has the highest score on two and the highest marked ride of the saddle bronc riding.
Logan Hay and Ben Andersen were the other two bronc riders to advance from Pool 2. All three will compete in the Semifinal tripleheader on The Cowboy Channel and The Cowboy Channel+ on Jan. 21.
