Charles “Chuck” D. English, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at his residence. He was born November 24, 1937, in Wardell, MO, to parents Joseph and Elaine (Parker) English. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He married Patricia Ryan on August 25, 1978. He was of the Methodist faith. Chuck proudly served our country in the United States National Guard before being transferred to the United States Army Reserve. After returning home, he taught classes and coached basketball at Kirby Jr. High School in Hazelwood, for three years, before moving to Piedmont. He taught typing, accounting, and shorthand at Ellington High School until he received a position teaching at Clearwater High School where he taught typing, shorthand, accounting, and photography. Chuck also had a passion for photography. He owned a photography studio and was requested for many photo shoots throughout the county including, weddings, anniversary’s, and other events from tee ball to senior pictures. Chuck enjoyed riding horses, relaxing in the swimming pool, spending time with his grandsons, and eating Patty’s cooking.  He was the owner of a Horse Training Facility in which he provided riding lessons and trained horses.  Chuck attended the Oklahoma Horse Shoeing School and received his degree from University of Kentucky in Bowling Green.  He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), American Paint Horse Association (APHA), and held several different positions at the Wayne County Saddle Club. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: William “Billy” English. Chuck is survived by loving wife of forty-one years; children: Jay William English of Piedmont, Amy Jo McAlister and husband Clint also of Piedmont; grandchildren: Michael Joseph Kyle, Karsten Ryan McAlister; sister: JoAnn Banks and husband William “Bill” of Farmington; nieces: Mary Jo Jensen and husband Jeff of Fredericktown, Lynda Jennings and husband Brent of Kentucky, nephews: William “Chip” Banks and wife Cindi of Carbondale, IL, David “Davy” Mauk of Fredericktown; two girls he thought of as a daughter: Brandie Eldridge and Gina Henson and husband Justin; countless friends including Danny Smith and Denny Hovis, Marvin Davis, Charles Tucker, and Sylvia Anicker. Chuck will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. Visitation was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont. A memorial service followed at 1:00 pm, also at the Piedmont Chapel with Dennis Hovis officiating.
