To be able to ride in these events each contestant must qualify in each event at a WSCA show prior to going to the fair. Once at the State Fair they then ride against up to 40 other riders in each event.

The Osakis saddle club members who participated won the following ribbons: Victoria Viteri — first in Barrels, fourth in Barrel Stakes and second in Rescue; Mike Shefveland — second in Barrels and third in Jumping Figure 8; Eva Viteri — second in Poles; Arlene Bayer — fourth in Poles; Carson Duncanson — third in Four-in-Line Barrels; Deb Shefveland and Amber Duncanson — third in Trailer Race and sixth in Ribbon Race (these are team events); Deb S., Amber D., Arlene B. and Betty A. — first in Four-in-Line Barrels.

The Osakis Trailblazers Saddle Club also has been awarded the High-Point WSCA Game Club for the State Fair and the High-Point Game Club for the Western Saddle Clubs Association Championship Horse Show for 2018.

Both of these awards are based on points received for placings by members of the Osakis club at these shows. This is an honor that is extra special because there are 130 saddle clubs from Minnesota and surrounding states that compete at these shows.
